Did Ryder really betray? Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, The game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas tells us the tragic story of becoming an ordinary guy, who were many in America in the 90s.

And this tragedy lies in the betrayal of the people closest to CJ: Ryder and Smoke.

Big Smoke

As for Big Smoke, everything is clear: his motives and goals were determined long ago. After several of his missions, you can suspect that something was wrong. He deceives us into his incomprehensible affairs. Plus his house is not on the territory of Grove Street supposedly bought by inheritance. But why? In short, Big Smoke was clearly a traitor. But about Ryder, everything is not so simple. There is a very popular theory in the community of players that Ryder is not a traitor, but a victim of circumstance. Also in favor of this theory, its proponents have presented a lot of convincing evidence. And yet, I decided to try to refute them. Whether successful or not, we'll find out now.

Ryder's loyalty to Grove Street and his absence from the list of traitors and enemies.

Unlike Smoke, Ryder's missions and demeanor make it clear that he truly wants to strengthen Grove Street and is doing his best to do so. He even decided to "borrow" weapons from an entire army. His missions are clear. The difference between Ryder and Smoke is evident in the mission with the huge order of Big Smoke (Drive-Thru). When we try to catch up with the Ballas, Smoke is very addicted to food, and Ryder tries to stop the opponents. And when the betrayal of Smoke and, probably, Ryder is revealed, CJ will only mention the Big Steam Locomotive. I don't think this is proof at all. However, it is very popular. The point is, developers can be wrong too. He's not on the list of enemies either. This is also a flaw of the developers.

Rebuttal

Ryder's loyalty is dissipated if we fail the Home Invasion mission. If we talk too much and the military calls the cops, CJ, trying to escape, will not find Ryder at the house. He decided to leave and not risk his life for an old friend. Or, for example, in the mission "Reuniting the Families", as soon as Sweet and CJ got into trouble, Ryder, with the words "It's every man for himself," starts the car and drives away. That's all his devotion. Anyway, he is in the mission "Pier 69", where Karl deals with him, does not try to justify himself, but does the following: He sends everyone and jumps on the boat!

Agree, his behavior is clearly not reminiscent of the regret of betrayal.

It turns out that Ryder still betrayed Grove Street of his own free will, without regretting it in the least. Although there are rumors that something happened to Ryder's voice actor (MC Eiht) and Rockstar Games had to make adjustments to the plot, there is even evidence: one of Ryder's last lines - Can't stop me (I cannot be stopped) sounded earlier in the mission " Home Invasion ", when the CJ tried to shut Ryder up, for yet another ridicule of the CJ's ride. So, probably Ryder was not originally a traitor ...
