Why we love video games

When spring and summer fall into the country of video games, people can expect one thing: tease. On the eve of all major events and agreements, companies begin to deploy advertising trains. In the end, this is the perfect time to interest people before events and, perhaps, make them salivating over the names they can buy later this year. But good tease requires the right execution. There should be a grace. This should cause nostalgia. It needs the element of secrecy. Fortunately, in 2019 many excellent teases appeared to show how it should be done.

Large was associated with Borderlands 3. We have seen clips of road signs. A familiar iconography was shown. New characters were allocated. It was a drip feed leading to the main event, and it was a super effect. The fact that Borderlands 3 was the biggest news that came out of the Convention. All images were familiar enough for people to understand that this could mean a completely new numbered record, but were quite vague when someone skeptically treated them. It was a moment and nod. PR told us: "You all know what we are talking about." We were for something big.

It looks like an approach that EA applied to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Of course, it was a slow burn. It began on E3 2018, when RESPAWN Entertainment gave us a name. We also learned that this would happen between Episode III and Episode IV. After that there were a lot of smoke and mirrors until the celebration of Star Wars began on April 13, 2019. Three days before, we got an image and slogan. Message? "Do not stand out." It seems illogical. Moreover, he is paired with a cult light sword. Perhaps it helped people to invest and wait for a real announcement, which showed that we follow Calle Kestis, one of the last Jedi after the Order 66 destroyed almost all the Jedi.

The Sony Studio in Santa Monica also offered a large one. The god of war ended on the climber. However, no DLC is planned for the game. But a year after the launch, a free topic was released. Brief and Atraya in the boat, which we often see in the adventures. It seems fine, right? In addition to the runes on the boat new. They read: "Ragnarks goes." People who completed the adventure know that the Father and Son participated in the act, which in mythology led to this amazing event. This topic is a permanent teaser for future events. Waiting is building.

Then there were teasers Resident Evil. In April 2019, Capcom decided to start placing the images that lead to reflections on social networks. Not bad or offensively. Just people will eventually see a link to Jill in the "Resident Evil" with the phrase: "Have you ever felt that someone watches you ...?" It was followed by the image of Resident Evil 2 walls damaged by Nemesis. This leads to another opening of Resident Evil, explicitly for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. What, when it comes to this, is a long-awaited perspective. In the end, this is an installment, which appeared only on early consoles and is not available in any modern form. The hint is enough to raise people.

Proper tease can be awesome. A slim burn that perfectly controls the hype can work wonders. Especially if the company does not promise anything that it can work. Something is subtle, what hints at the desired thing, but is it enough for a real fan to understand what is said? It looks like winking and bow from someone who you respect. This is the situation when it seems that your boss, dear friend or Sampai noticed you. Let's hope that 2019 and subsequent years will be filled with much greater.
