Hidden in a Google search is a StarCraft Easter Egg that, when activated, will challenge you to race against time to avoid being hit by the zerg.

Hidden in a Google search is a StarCraft Easter egg that allows the user to perform a Zerg rush on the results page. Like many other hidden games and Search-related features, this one was released some time ago. However, she is still alive and can be easily unlocked if you know how.

The Zerg rush Easter egg was officially added to Google Search back in 2012 and could be accessed simply by searching for "Zerg rush". Despite the years since then, the Google version of the game is still available and playable, although there have been some changes to the way StarCraft is accessed and used. For example, in the past, players could share their results on Google+, but this is no longer possible as Google shut down its social networking service in 2019.

How to Search Google Search Zerg Rush

As with all Google Search Easter eggs, the process starts with a simple search for your main phrase. However, the correct search that activates the Easter egg (rather than returning the normal search results page) depends on how the search is performed. For example, if you just search for "Zerg rush", then all that happens is Google will return a standard results page for that phrase. At the top of this page there will be a link to the game, clicking on which will activate the Easter egg. However, if you want to do it right, then you need to go to google.com, enter "Zerg rush", but click the "I'm feeling lucky" button, not the usual "Google Search" button. This will automatically unlock the Easter egg instead of displaying the Zerg rush homepage and results.

After activation, a bunch of Wasps will drop out of the search bar, and then the player will have to race against time to double-click on each of them until they spread, absorbing everything in their path and spawning new Wasps. As soon as the player begins to feel overwhelmed, they will notice that Google Search zerglings are grouped together, and when the game is over, they form the "GG" form - a nod to the "good game" link popular with StarCraft players and gamers in general. This may actually be the offensive "GG" since it starts long before the game is technically finished, although that hardly matters since once "GG" starts to form, Google has already won this round of StarCraft.
