Devil May Cry 5 offers many other opportunities for active gamer participation, including a wide variety of collectibles, upgrades, and secret missions. To expand the Trigger Gauge, the player needs to find and use purple balls, including eight fragments of purple balls scattered throughout the game missions. Collecting all eight is necessary to make the most of the Devil Trigger Gauge, and thankfully Devil May Cry 5 allows players to go back and replay levels at any time, so players can quickly return to the zones to collect any purple orb fragments they missed. Here is the location of all eight.
Mission 4
The first purple piece of the game can be found in Mission 4, right after the destruction of the bridge. Head towards the building on the right side of the walkways and a purple ball fragment will be waiting inside.
Mission 5
After defeating Empusa Queen at the construction site, head straight to the next hall. As soon as the player comes out from under the metal overhang, climb onto the pile of building materials and turn around to face it. On top of this metal overhang is a purple ball. Jump and use the Griffon to slide onto the platform to retrieve the fragment.
Mission 9
Inside the catacombs, after falling through a large hole, the player will face some enemies. After clearing the room, check the left wall for a large wooden door. Smash the door with the familiar Nightmare V, smash the enemies inside, and a short cutscene will cause a purple orb fragment to be found on the pillar.
Mission 10
After reaching the cogwheel door with the time stamp, continue along the main path on the upper level until the next white ball is seen. Turn right immediately and jump onto the path above. Continue until the fight begins, defeat the enemies and a purple ball will appear.
Mission 11
As he approaches the small rooftop platform, Dante will mention that the area looks like it will collapse. Beat the enemies here quickly and a purple ball will appear on the way ahead.
Mission 12
In this mission, the player will face two Nidhogg barriers. Go through the bottom door and defeat the Bloody Sack. After being beaten, continue walking forward and to the right to find a side room with a purple ball shard.
Mission 14
Before destroying the first blood clot in this area, the player will reach a forked road. The blood clot is on the right track. Then return to the fork and follow the alternate route to the left. A small red sphere will appear on the left side of the screen. From here, turn right and look at the ledge containing the purple ball. Jump down and collect it.
Mission 16
After falling through the second hole and defeating the enemies, ignore the alcove highlighted in blue and jump into the next hole. Another group of enemies will appear. Hit them and then carefully descend the platforms, going down until you reach the purple ball. This pickup marks the last purple ball fragment in Devil May Cry 5.
Collecting eight Purple Orb Fragments will grant the player two upgrades to their Devil Trigger Gauge. Niko sells the remaining five intact purple orbs, giving the Devil Trigger player up to seven full upgrades. With the Devil Trigger Gauge completely used up, the The Devil's Own achievement will be unlocked. The work is not finished yet. Hunt down every blue ball to get maximum health.
