As many players become familiar with Walheim, they will need to find important crafting items such as honey and queen bees, and this guide can help explain how.

From Assassin's Creed: Valhalla to God of War, games inspired by Norse mythology and Viking history are a hit with gamers. Judging by the popularity of the game, Valheim is in the same boat right now, especially since it has more concurrent players than many well-known games on Steam. When players first enter the world, many will need important crafting items such as honey and queen bees.

Valheim burst onto the scene earlier this month after Iron Gate Studio released the game to Steam Early Access, where it dominated the Steam bestseller list for two weeks straight. Players enter a Viking-inspired world and must find a way to survive. Crafting, exploring, and fighting enemies are integral aspects of the game, and even at launch, players can discover tons of content.

How to find a queen bee

To find the queen bee and get some honey, players will need to find the abandoned buildings in the Meadows biome. Luckily, the Meadows biome is something players have access to for the first time. Players can sometimes find wild hives in abandoned houses and towers throughout the map.

Random encounters with wild hives can cause nasty damage to players, so players should be careful while exploring the various structures in the world. While hives can be destroyed with melee weapons, a bow will help protect players from damage. Once the hive is destroyed, check to see if the queen bee has fallen.

The queen bee is a necessary crafting ingredient to progress in the game, so it will be helpful to find as many as you can while exploring. It is also necessary to craft beehives - the best way to get honey for the player.

How to get honey

While honey can sometimes drop from wild hives, players have a better way to get this delicious snack. Players can create their own bee farms once they have a workshop. All players need is a queen bee and 10 wooden planks.

Since the hives will slowly produce honey over time and hold up to 4 at a time, the player is encouraged to build several if they can. Once it becomes available, players can simply walk up to the hive and collect the honey. By eating a piece of honey, players will gain an additional 20 health and 20 stamina, as well as 5 HP per healing cycle for 300 seconds. Honey is also needed to craft various honey bases once players gain access to the cauldron, so stocking up on honey early on will save players time down the road.

It's important to note that hives can taunt enemies like Gray dwarves and maybe even Valheim's boars. As such, players may want to build fences around their bee farms to keep them from getting destroyed.

This game is already attracting players with its variety of gameplay, and with the planned Valheim roadmap, players have even more content to look forward to. Given the game's popularity, it's almost certain to have a long life.

Valheim is now available on PC.
