Updated by Jesse Lennox on January 23, 2021: Genshin Impact is an ever-evolving game. Since launch, the roster has only grown to shake up the meta of the best team lineups in the game. As new characters, artifacts, and strategies are discovered, and new challenges require the player to have all new tactics, this roster will continue to evolve so you always know who is worth keeping on your roster.

Top tier squads in Genshin Impact

Your ideal team will depend on what exactly you're trying to achieve, as well as which characters you have access to. These are the best compositions you can get, with some considerations and substitutions for those who don't get hits.

Balanced composition of the top-level team

In the all-round team, the best of the best are Keqing, Diluk, Venti and Qiqi. Right off the bat, you'll notice that all of these characters have five star ratings, which means they're not easy to find, but you can't ignore how powerful these four are. Keqing has abilities that make moving around the environment trivial, Diluk and Venti are perfect for catching fish, and Qiqi is one of the best healers in the game thanks to her Elemental Burst ability.

If you stick with the free characters, the alternate lineup would look something like this: Xiangling, Lisa, Noelle, and Barbara. Xiangling and Lisa have good combat synergies while Barbara and Noel can keep the team healthy for more aggressive games. You can also swap Noelle or Barbara for your Wanderer if you prefer to focus a little less on healing.

Top Tier Field Boss Teams

For Anemo Hypostasis, Diluc, Fischl, Mona, and Qiqi can deal with this boss quickly. It's not a particularly difficult fight at first, but this unit's high DPS can help cut down on the time it takes to wait for it to come out of its core.

The Electro Hypostasis team is no different and consists of Diluc, Qiqi, Mona and Xiangling. The reason for the change is mainly to maximize the number of characters with abilities that can hit more than once, as well as to make it easier to summon elemental reactions.

In the end, according to Geo Hypostasis, you need to hunt with Diluk, Chongyun, Razor and Keqing. This team is made to counter the stones that this boss will summon to protect her; you need a two-handed weapon to break through.

Top level research team

If you just want to explore the world and move around as efficiently as possible, Keqing, Venti, Mona, and Jean are worth highlighting. Keqing as mentioned earlier is great for general map movement, but having two wind characters will give elemental resonance for even more mobility.

Best Elemental Teams

Finally, here are some quick characters that you should combine or build around certain elements.

Pyro: Diluc and Bennett

Dilook does very well with four sets of Crimson Witch Artifacts, while Benett gets the best damage buff with four sets of Gladiator's Endgame. Alternatively, you can only give him two Gladiator's and two Bloodstained Chivalry.

Electro: Keqing and Razor

Keking should no doubt keep four Thunders to keep their electricity damage as high as possible. Razor can also use Thunder Fury for elemental damage or Gladiator's Finale if you want him to be a melee oriented character.

Crio: Cheongyun and Qiqi

Cheongyun should be paired with four Noblesse Oblige sets or four Gladiator sets, depending on which skills you prefer. Qiqi, on the other hand, gets a better boost to his support skills with four Maiden Beloveds.

Hydro: Mona and Tartaglia

Both of these hydrophotos have some good artifact options. Four Noblesse Oblige is best if you prefer explosive damage, while Wanderer's Troupe is best for charged attacks and elemental mastery.

Geo: Ningguang and Zhongli

The best combination of Ninguan artifacts is two Archaic Petras and two Gladiators, but a good secondary set is two Archaic Petras and two Noble Bonds. Zhongli should stick to the Four Nobles of Oblige.
