On Monday, the Russian District Court of St. Petersburg announced a total ban on five isekai anime series. This is provided for by the Russian federal law on the protection of children from harmful information. Retired anime series include KonoSuba, That Time I Got Reincarnated as Slime, Zombie Land Saga, Nekopara, and Princess Lover!.

The court also mentioned that the testimony of someone who believes in the concepts of a parallel world is clearly visible to anime audiences. In addition, the court stated that KonoSuba promotes beliefs in reincarnation by creating a healthy world after death. They portray life after death as adventurous and magical. Therefore, this may lead to people being more inclined towards the afterlife.

Prosecutors who have called for a ban on such programming allege that anime series such as Death Note, Tokyo Ghoul and Inuyashiki contain dangerous content for teen audiences. As evidence, he cited the case of the suicide of a teenager. The boy owned the Death Note manga and was allegedly linked to his death. But the prosecutor mentioned another tragic case when a teenager fell out of a window. However, the boy's costume was very similar to that of the protagonist Death Note.
