Why is the Isekai anime banned in Russia?
On Monday, the Russian District Court of St. Petersburg announced a total ban on five isekai anime series. This is provided for by the Russian federal law on the protection of children from harmful information. Retired anime series include KonoSuba, That Time I Got Reincarnated as Slime, Zombie Land Saga, Nekopara, and Princess Lover!.
This was announced on the court's official Telegram channel. The official press service of the court reports that the decision to ban was evaluated by experts.
The court also mentioned that the testimony of someone who believes in the concepts of a parallel world is clearly visible to anime audiences. In addition, the court stated that KonoSuba promotes beliefs in reincarnation by creating a healthy world after death. They portray life after death as adventurous and magical. Prosecutors who have called for a ban on such programming allege that anime series such as Death Note, Tokyo Ghoul and Inuyashiki contain dangerous content for teen audiences.
