There have been a lot of harsh historical strategies like Total War throughout the epic of the video game industry.
For those eager to hone their own tactical abilities in a video game with a believable balance of power and historical veracity, there is usually a huge selection. But extensive video games, in which you can have a lot of fun in a similar setting, show your imagination, be creative and laugh - is uniqueness. More often than not, these are indie projects and one-time ideas. But the creators from Brilliant Game Studios were able to make such a project on a good scale. Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator is a truly epic sandbox strategy game. In it, you can create what is pleasing. Face 5 thousand Wehrmacht fighters from World War II with 20 thousand Roman legionaries, a giant turtle with a thousand Teutonic knights or Chuck Norris himself with numerous hordes of undead. You can even grab a giant pile of chickens and see if a platoon of Persian fighters can handle them.
All this may seem at first glance to be nonsense, but from the sounding of such an idea, there is an immediate desire to see “And what will really happen”. In general, nothing prevents to recreate real historical battles. For example, the famous battle of 300 Spartans against a large Persian army. Here it's just a matter of invention and personal preferences. That's why it is a sandbox. The project is definitely fun and worth it to get the most detailed look. Well, let's get started.
To really enjoy the gameplay, you don't need a storyline like that. Well, how can you explain the ongoing madness. You can naturally make a campaign that repeats historical actions or following the framework of a certain novella of the battle between goblins and elves, for example. Most likely, the creators will add similar things in the form of add-on mods in Steam. But all this is not necessary, since Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator is a large, functional sandbox and a gamer is able to make at least some plot without the help of others in the editor.
Result: the greatest scope for imagination. The gamer makes all kinds of conditions for fights, down to the most indescribable ones. At first, in the picture of Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator, you see nothing particularly noticeable. The landscapes are beautiful, but without the cool shader bells and whistles and impressive detail. But now the army is drawn and a certain delight ensues. It's hard to imagine 100 thousand individual units that move, move, interact. With all this, they are not cardboard pieces of textures, but completely real and perfectly recreated models. Naturally, monotonous in the conditions of one army and completely inferior to colleagues from Total War, but still, think about the number! And when one such "horde" collides with another and the meat grinder is tied up, it looks very epic. The word "epic" is not in vain in the title. Here it is quite appropriate. The animation of fights was similarly made at a steep level for the genre. You can constantly lower the camera to one specific fighter and watch his fight with the enemy. Why, you can even manage it without the help of others, but more on that later. Naturally, even in spite of not the most advanced graphics, if you turn all the options to "ultra" and load the display very much with hundreds of thousands of units, then FPS will sink into sultry fragments on almost any PC. However, this is not critical, it will be necessary to make super-fast tactical decisions from time to time. It's just curious to look here.
If you type the title of a video on YouTube, a large number of videos with recordings of individual contractions will appear. Both from ordinary gamers and from letplayers with a huge audience. They are called something like “10,000 undead against a battalion of soldiers” or “50,000 goblins against 3,000 knights” and stuff like that. Variants on the theme of Chuck Norris, chickens and the rest of the trash, are similarly loaded pretty. And obviously, hundreds of thousands of views, it's quite curious to follow this.
This is absolutely the whole essence of the gameplay. With a functional event editor, make an epic battle and follow it with pleasure. There are not enough strategic points here. Units simply follow the shortest path and overwhelm the fighter with mass or XP level. Chuck Norris, for example, has virtually endless XP and is likely to handle any army. But the lack of contrast in command is compensated by the fact that you can switch to each individual unit and control it near the 3rd person. At the same time, unlike Total War and Warhammer, this is not a strictly separate commander or a unique protagonist of his own race, but at least some random fighter on the field of pain. Controlling it is not very diverse, only movement and attack, but still more correct than nothing. And how much you can think of with the landscape and the management of a huge detachment. Forcing a thousand Spartans to jump from the highest mountain onto the heads of medieval knights and see how it all will look is not a question.
Result: An abundance and a very creative aspect to the creation of contractions, that's what motivates you to record epic videos. You can constantly talk about what an extraordinary battle you invented and how it was realized as a result. This can be a lot of fun. There are not enough works that give such an opportunity, and even in such a high-quality performance, in the economic market.
Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator is a cool tactical sandbox game. Hardly capable of anyone dragging on for months of video games, but as entertainment and the opportunity to throw out a military fantasy, it will fit perfectly.
