The Witcher Netflix series is making major changes to Triss Merigold's personality, and fans can check out all the changes here.

After years of waiting for a high-quality film or TV adaptation, fans of The Witcher video games and novels seem to have finally gotten what they want thanks to the Netflix series. The Henry Cavill adaptation of The Witcher receives positive reviews from both critics and audiences, and despite some significant differences from the books and games, the first season seems like a very strong start.

While the changes to Ciri initially attracted a lot of attention, video game fans may have noticed some significant changes in Triss Merigold's character as well. Triss is a beloved character in the video game fan community thanks to her key roles in the first two Witcher games, so some of her personality changes may not appeal to those who only know her from the adaptation of CD Projekt Red.

Firstly, we are talking about Triss's appearance. This shouldn't shock anyone since the casting was revealed months ago, but the Netflix series chose an actress who likely won't remind fans of the video game version of Triss. Netflix recruited talented "Harry Potter" veteran Anna Schaffer to play Triss in its first season.

Physical appearance Triss Merigold

The first difference that some fans are likely to notice is that Triss has light skin, blue eyes, and red hair in the video game, while Shaffer brings dark hair and brown eyes to the role. Triss has an undefined skin tone in the books, but it is described that she has auburn hair and cornflower blue eyes. While some fans may be disappointed that Triss is not a redhead in this adaptation, her appearance does not greatly affect the character.

Much more interesting are the changes that have occurred in the character in addition to her appearance. Fans of the video game series will probably know that Triss is Geralt's main companion in the first two games and part of the intense love triangle in Wild Hunt. Fans of the game who come to the show hoping for such a dynamic will be disappointed both by Triss's amount of screen time and her relationship with Geralt.

Romantic relationship Triss and Geralt

In the Netflix series The Witcher, we see Geralt have many romantic relationships with various women throughout its long chronology, but the romantic focus is definitely on Geralt and Yennefer's ship when the two finally reconnect around mid-season. Yennefer has quickly become a fan favorite since the first season, so perhaps the show's creators were up to something with her emphasis. We do see Geralt interacting with Triss before meeting Yennefer, but their interaction can hardly be called romantic.

Triss first appears in Episode 3 (see our review of Traitor Moon here) to help Geralt guide him to meet Striga. The two characters spend a lot of screen time together in this episode, but no romantic sparks emerge between them. Some fans looking to connect Triss and Geralt may interpret some of their interactions as flirting, but there is no obvious romance between them. Triss returns later in the season, but at this point she is mostly chatting with Yennefer (which is more in line with the books).

Eliminating the romance of Geralt and Triss's relationship in the Netflix adaptation might disappoint some video game fans, but keep in mind that season 1 was just eight episodes and went a long way towards creating the world and characters. Since the second season has already been confirmed, it seems possible that Triss could become a more significant character and romantic interest in the future of the series, depending on the direction of the next season. There are tons of stories about The Witcher for the series to explore further, so fans might want to wait until we find out more about the direction of Season 2 before making any predictions or figuring out how big a role Triss Merigold may or may not play. in the next adventures of Geralt.

At the same time, it is worth paying attention to the role of Triss Merigold in the original source. Although Triss is Geralt's main love interest in the first two video games, she never played such a role in the original stories. In the novels, Triss and Geralt have a romantic relationship, but they are mostly one-sided: Triss lusts for Geralt, but he is not interested (most of the time). Triss and Geralt interact well in stories, but in fact she is more of Ennefer's companion than Geralt, and her romantic interest in the witcher acts as a foil for friendship between the two magicians.

If a love affair arises between Triss and Geralt in the next season of The Witcher, it will be interesting to see if it will be used as a plot to cause tension between Triss and Yennefer, and if Geralt will reciprocate, or he will have to be tricked into falling in love with her. as in the original. In any case, it will be interesting to follow the development of events and see what happens next in the adaptation.

Filming for the second season of "The Witcher" is scheduled to begin soon, so fans will surely find out more about what awaits Geralt and the company in the near future. Be sure to stay tuned, but in the meantime, do not forget to throw a coin at your Witcher.

The Witcher TV series is available to watch right now on Netflix, and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is available to play on PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.
