This guide will tell you step by step about Minecraft how to get a music disc and what it is for, to get an answer to the question - read on.

Music Discs are rare (if not needed) items that players can collect in Minecraft - we're here to explain how to find them and how they work.

Music in Minecraft has been hailed as one of the best video games in the world, and for good reason. It's not easy to create great, catchy tunes for a game that is so slow and leaves players spending hours creating their creations. Music should be inspiring and unique, but not too loud or distracting.

The same goes for the mysterious Minecraft music discs. These special and rare items come in several varieties and each has its own unique melody, some of which are very enjoyable to listen to. While music CDs are not a necessity in the game, they are a cool collectible that adds a little more to the survival RPG. If you want to collect them all, here's how to do it.

Searching for a music disc

In the Java version of the game, only two locations can bring music CDs as loot. Common mob dungeons that appear randomly around the world are likely to contain at least one music CD, usually either "13" or "cat".

Forest Mansions is another place where both "13" and "cat" can be found in several chests. And finally, the Pig Footsteps Music Disc is usually found inside the Remnants of the Nether Bastion, in one of the common chests as a fairly common loot.

Those playing Bedrock Edition have a few more options. In addition to "13", "cat" and "pig step" (which are found in the same way as in the Java Edition), players can also find music CDs "melloha" and "wait" inside the treasure chests.

Creeper Music Discs

The main way to get most of the music CDs is through the creeper. The creeper must be killed by a Skeleton or Lost Arrow, causing him to drop a random music disc. For this to be possible, it is essential that the skeleton deals a fatal blow to the vine.

To make things easier, you can hit the creeper with a weak sword multiple times to reduce its health. To attract the skeleton, move closer to it, and then position yourself so that the skeleton shoots at the vines instead of you.

This takes a lot of skill and practice as you have to control two mobs chasing you. Make sure you have a shield as well as a good enchanted bow so that you can easily attract the skeleton again if you get too far away from it. If you did everything correctly, most likely the creeper dropped the music disc, which usually has the number “13” or “cat”.

Using the jukebox

Music discs must be placed in a jukebox to be listened to. Jukeboxes are not cheap blocks to craft as they each require one diamond. At the same time, they are a good addition to an already chic home, which has almost everything and everything. To create one, place eight wooden planks of any kind in the crafting grid with one diamond in the center.

Jukeboxes do not need redstone power. Place one anywhere and, while holding the jukebox in your right hand, right-click on it. The game will display a message on the screen indicating which disc is currently being played. The jukeboxes are quite loud and can be heard quite far away.

When using the jukebox, depending on the music disc, it actually emits a redstone signal of a certain strength. Each music disc has a different signal strength: “pigstep” is the strongest signal, while “13” and “cat” are the lowest.

The style of each music disc

The musical style of each disc is difficult to describe. What is certain is that they are all extremely unique, perhaps best described as somewhat quirky and otherworldly. Some take inspiration from real music and sound closer to normal music than others. Some discs even have musical references.

  • "13": More ambient than musical, it sounds closer to the ambient cave sounds of the game than to the melody.
  • "cat": The melody is more melodic, without any rhyme or reason, until after a short break the real drums start.
  • "blocks": This melody sounds almost like a song from a retro game with strong percussion.
  • "chirp": Starts with a 1970 Bossa Nova-style sample CD by Mattel.

  • "far": closer to "feline" in style, has a melody, but sounds a little more original in the style of Minecraft.
  • "mall": An extremely soothing song at a slow pace.
  • "mellohi": Like the "tweet", it has a distinct vintage musical sound that is closer to real-world music than Minecraft's signature music style.
  • "stal": This is a lot of jazz music with strong bass and saxophone.
  • "strad": one of the most popular pieces, it is very dreamy, melodic and almost tropical thanks to the use of a steel pan.

  • "ward": a darker melody, from samples of Chopin's funeral march to the electronic sound of a retro Minecraft-style game.
  • "11": The most bizarre disc ever, there is no music on it, just a bunch of sound effects that seem to tell a complicated story.
  • "wait": similar in style to "strad", it has a fun and dreamy melody.
  • "pigstep": The only hip-hop or rap music CD, it sounds like no other.

And that's all you need to know about how to get a music disc and what you need it for in Minecraft.
