Where is the game directory from digital stores?

Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Uplay - Where are the games from the library, how to find the root folder of the game.

Knowing where the game is installed can be helpful in identifying a bug or in order to run the game with ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS.

Steam

In case your game was installed via the Steam application, please follow the steps below:

  • Select the game you need from your library
  • Next, right-click on the name of the game, and then Properties
  • After that, please go to the Local Files tab
  • In this tab, select the Browse Local Files option to open the game folder in Windows Explorer

Epic Games Launcher

The default folder for all installed games is C.Program FilesEpic Games[Game Name], don't mix up the folders if you have an x64 system. There will be games along this path, and along this path C:Program Files (x86)Epic Games the launcher itself.

At the moment, the Epic Games Launcher does not have an option to immediately find out the location of the installed game.

GOG

By default, all games are installed at this address:

$HOME/GOG Games

C:Program Files (x86)GOG GalaxyGames

(This is the GOG Games directory in your home folder.)

You can choose a different path if you wish.

Uplay PC

To find out where the game was installed through the Uplay PC app, please follow the steps below:

  • Click on your game's icon in the Uplay App Library
  • Next, please go to Game Options in the menu on the left
  • In the Local Files section, click on Open Folder
