Mass Effect Legendary Edition combines many different genres, with the core being a space adventure centered on your Commander Shepard. As you progress through the game, you will have to use your own ship, known as the Normandy, to travel between planets. This could mean you're heading to the planet on the Mako ship, or just visiting the Citadel, but either way, there can be confusion about how to get back to your ship in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
How to return to the ship in Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Since there will be two different scenarios in the game in which you will need to return to the ship, we will cover both. There are also moments in the game where you can't get back to the ship due to certain plot points that force you to move forward wherever you are.
The Citadel plays an important role in the Mass Effect trilogy, and it starts from the very first game. You will eventually dock your ship to visit the Citadel, but this can leave you confused about how to leave it again. You will need to find a real docking bay for the ship so you can leave it. To get started, head to the Wards area of the Citadel and find the C-Sec elevator on the left, where you can go upstairs. This elevator will take you directly to the area with your ship and you can take off.
Another time you'll need to return to the ship is when you're exploring planets in the Mako, the ground-based rover you use to explore planets. This can be done both in Mako itself and outside it. If you are in Mako, just press X on Xbox or the appropriate button on other platforms to return to the ship. If you are outside Mako, you can open the map itself and select the "Return to Normandy" option to go back.
