The Cold Suit in Subnautica: Below Zero is extremely useful for exploring the freezing surface of planet 4546B, but it's not that easy to get.

Drowning, suffocation, hostile predators, hunger and thirst are just a few of the problems players will encounter while exploring planet 4546B in Subnautica: Below Zero, but this is by no means an exhaustive list. As the name suggests, many of the regions in this game are arctic and players will have to watch their body temperature to keep from freezing to death. While there are some steps players can take to mitigate the effects of the cold, one of the best ways to do this is to find a cold suit. But even then, for a number of reasons, this is much easier said than done.

The Cold Suit significantly increases the player's resistance to low temperatures. This means they will be able to spend extended periods of time above or even underwater in the colder areas of Subnautica: Below Zero. To obtain it, players first need to find a fragment related to the item and then collect the materials to craft it.

There is only one cold suit fragment in Subnautica: Below Zero, and to find it, players need to travel to Phi Robotics. Players will then need to return to Fabrikant to see what is required to craft each of the three fragments. Players will need a total of four Fiber Mesh and four Snow Stalker Furs to craft a helmet, suit, and gloves. The Fibrous Mesh is already quite easy to obtain, since each of them requires only two samples of the creepine, but the snow stalker's fur is a completely different matter.

To save time and avoid a nasty headache, players should know how to get the Snow Stalker Fur before looking for it. While it may seem counter-intuitive, players cannot collect Snow Stalker Fur from a dead Snow Stalker, so they will have to do so while the beast is alive. In order to do this and not be torn to pieces, players need to use the Spy Penguin item. Approach the snow stalker using the spy penguin and interact with it to get a bunch of fur. The spy penguin can comfortably accommodate four items - exactly as many as you need for the costume.

Now return to the Fabrikator again and create a cold suit, helmet and gloves. According to the item's database entry, the suit is rated at an astonishing 133.8 Kelvin. This is roughly -218° Fahrenheit or -139° Celsius, much colder than any recorded temperature on Earth. Despite this, it will only serve to slow down the decline in the player's body temperature.
