How to get a silencer in The Last of Us Part II
The Silencer is a weapon upgrade that can be crafted. Unfortunately, you can't craft the silencer from the start of the game, and that's because Ellie doesn't have the recipe needed to make it yet.
You will have to wait until the first day of Seattle to advance to the Seattle - Capitol Hill stage. This is one of the stages on the way to the headquarters of the television station Channel 13. At this stage, you will pass, for example, a gas station. Follow the main streets until you come across the bookstore shown in the photo - you will recognize it by the LGBT flag hanging nearby.
Inside the bookstore, you will find a passage to the Coffee House cafe.
Once inside, find the Study Guide: Stealth.

Spend 20 additives on this skill to get a silencer recipe. To craft 1 silencer, you will need 1 rag and 1 canister.
Each muffler has a very limited number of uses. Initially, the silencer is only enough for 3 shots. After that, it is irretrievably lost, and you will have to make a new one. You should also unlock the passive ability "Upgrade Silencers" from the stealth tree - it increases the duration of the silencer from 3 to 5 shots.
You will play as Abby later in the campaign - she can craft Silencers for the Military Pistol from the start.

Attaching a Silencer to a Weapon
The silencer can only be mounted on a pistol - it will not fit any other type of firearm.
The good news is that you can attach and detach the silencer whenever you want - to do this, click the "Triangle" button. Removing the silencer is a good idea if you're planning an open confrontation and don't want to use it unnecessarily.
Additional note: when using a pistol with a silencer, try to aim at the enemy's head. This will increase the chances of killing the enemy with one shot and will allow you to use the silencer for longer.
Silenced submachine gun
During the passage of Santa Barbara, the final chapter, Ellie automatically receives the last firearm - a submachine gun with a silencer.
This is a very important weapon, because unlike conventional silencers, the silencer mounted on a submachine gun does not lose its durability. You can use this weapon in the last stages to easily eliminate individual opponents without raising the alarm all over the area.
