How to get a crossbow in The Last of Us Part II
The crossbow is a weapon only available to Abby, who you will control at the beginning of the campaign. This means that you will not be able to get a crossbow while playing as Ellie.
Abby finds a crossbow during the passage of the Coast. This is one of the levels in "Seattle Day 1" and you play as Abby during it. During the passage of the Coast, Abby gets to the sunken ship and begins to explore it.
The crossbow can be found next to the human remains found on the ship. Abby will automatically pick up the weapon, so this event cannot be missed.
Using a crossbow
The crossbow, in our opinion, is a much better weapon than the bow. Its main advantages are:
- You don't need to make big adjustments when aiming, of course, except when you're aiming at very distant targets.
- It is not necessary to pull the ramrod before firing. You can release the shutter as soon as you aim at the target.
- So there is more chance to return the bolt back, even if it hit the enemy directly. Make it a habit to check the corpses of all those killed with a crossbow.
- The crossbow is a silent weapon. Nobody will hear the shot.
The biggest disadvantage of the crossbow is the long reload time, i.e. installation of a new bolt in the mechanism. Try not to miss and switch to another weapon if you find one.
As with the bow, crossbow bolts can be found throughout the level. Try to always have a full supply of them.
Crossbow upgrade
There are three types of crossbow upgrades:
- Stability - 50 crowbars - increases the stability of the weapon and therefore makes it easier to shoot accurately.
- 4x Scope - 60 Scrap - allows you to install a 4x scope that is activated by pressing the X button. In our opinion, this is the best upgrade available and should be bought as soon as possible. With a 4x scope, it is easier to kill distant enemies, for example, by aiming at their head.
- Reload speed - 80 crowbars - also an important improvement, which reduces the reload time of the crossbow by half. Especially useful if you plan to use a crossbow during all-out battles.
