What family photography is for in Resident Evil: Village
It is in your inventory as a key item from the very beginning of the game, but there is really nothing you can do with it. Even more annoying is that she will be the only item in your inventory when you need a key to open a door, or some tool (like a well wheel) to collect treasures.
Don't worry: Family photography does do a thing, but you won't need it right away.
After escaping from Dimitrescu Castle, you will need Family Photo to get to the House of Benevento, the second main section of the game, where you will have to face Angie and Donna Benevento.
A note near the door on the way to Benevento's house will tell you that you must "give up your memories", which forces you to shove a family photo (which shows Mia and Rose, Ethan's family) into the mailbox to access the next area.
