This guide will tell you step by step about Red Dead Online how to find the legendary onyx wolf to get the answer to the question - read on.

Fighting animals in Red Dead Online can be extremely dangerous, but it allows you to gain a lot of experience and money along the way. In this guide below, we will show you the location of the legendary onyx wolf, one of the most dangerous legendary animals in the game, and what you should do when you find it.

To find the Legendary Onyx Wolf in Red Dead Online, you need to travel to Ambarino in the north of the map, more specifically in the area between the Wapiti Indian Reservation and the Dakota River. While we have heard that the Onyx Wolf can appear at any time, there have been rumors that it becomes more visible overnight. We've also seen it only spawn in dry weather, so if it's raining your chances might be reduced. We've listed the exact location below so you can check it out, but if you're still having trouble finding it, check out our guide here for what to do and how to make them show up.

You will recognize the Onyx Wolf by its dark fur and a few white stripes on its neck (although these are not easily seen). However, he often interacts with other, regular brown wolves, and they will all attack you, usually circling around the player and hitting from all sides.

If this happens, the best thing you can do is find some kind of high ground that you can't climb, ideally a rock, building, or an elevated section of cliff. Once there, you can safely shoot them as much as you like. If there is no such high ground, prioritize shooting at nearby wolves, using the shotgun for close-range instant kills. Then try to kill - or at least calm down - the Onyx Wolf himself. A powerful shotgun should take about five shots to kill him, and sedative ammo about twice as much. We suggest that you kill the Onyx Wolf on your first encounter, as its skin can be sold to Gus or crafted into an awesome fur coat. It doesn't come cheap though - Gus will need $504 to make the coat itself, which includes a thick wolf head resting on top of your own.

And that's all there is to know about how to find the legendary onyx wolf in Red Dead Online.
