How to upgrade weapons and armor in Divinity: Original Sin 2?

To upgrade your weapons in Divinity: Original Sin 2, find the four Merchant Sisters scattered throughout Rivellon and in every act of the game. They are located as follows:

  • Deirdre - Fort Joy X: 453, Y: 28 (moves to X: 576, Y: 244 when Seekers attack Bishop Alexander)
  • Demira - Reaper's Shore X: 373, Y: 110
  • Dagmar - Lady Vengeance on the Nameless Island X: 3, Y: 62
  • Donna - Arx Pilgrim Camp X: 366, Y: 57

The sisters sell special items needed to upgrade equipment: Azure Flint for weapons, Diamond Dust for armor (including shields and belts), and Quicksilver for jewelry. You will need a certain amount of each of them depending on the rarity level of the piece of equipment:

  • Plain (white) - 1 item
  • Unusual (green) - 1 item
  • Rare (blue) - 2 items
  • Epic (purple) - 2 items
  • Legendary (pink) - 3 items
  • Divine (orange) - 3 items
  • Unique (gold) - 4 items

After collecting the necessary items, connect them together on the item creation screen. Please note that if the items are stacked, you may need to separate them into separate pieces to avoid creation errors. When successfully upgraded, the weapon or armor will match your current character level, as well as increase the required stat value for the equipment. Since equipment items are limited and expensive, gear should only be upgraded every few levels, say 3-5 levels depending on rarity.

The upgrade can increase base damage, armor, and improve stats. However, the equipment does not grant new stats, abilities, or stats. For example, if you upgraded Ifan's Shadow Eye Crossbow, it will become stronger, but will still only provide bonus piercing damage and the Chameleon Cloak invisibility skill.

That's all you need to know about how to improve weapons and armor in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
