The first Psychonauts game was released in 2005 for Xbox and PS2. After more than 15 years, fans finally get a sequel - Psychonauts 2.
Over the years, the console landscape and ownership has changed a lot, so the release of Psychonauts 2 looks very different from its predecessor. With that in mind, some players are wondering if Psychonauts 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Psychonauts 2 is not coming to Nintendo Switch. At the very least, there are currently no plans to release the game for a Nintendo hybrid console. However, this can always happen in the future.
Psychonauts 2 was developed by Double Fine productions and released on August 24, 2021. Back in 2019, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Double Fine. Given this, many assumed that the game would be released exclusively for the Xbox and Windows platforms. However, Psychonauts 2 made its way to PS4 the same day it was released, despite being released by Xbox Game Studios. Since the game is available on the platform of the Xbox's biggest rival, we should never say "never" about it coming to Switch.
There are currently no plans to release Psychonauts 2 on Switch. We've already seen other Microsoft games come to Switch, so Psychonauts 2 definitely has precedent to do the same. However, the original Psychonauts never made it to the Nintendo platform, so fans would most likely want to see a port of that game as well.
