In this guide, you will find out what methods and means will need to be applied to keep the townspeople from freezing in Settlement Survival?
How to keep the townspeople warm in Settlement Survival?
Guide to Keeping Citizens Warm in Settlement Survival
It can be divided into three stages:
- fuel stage.
- Stage of rough clothes.
- Down jacket stage.
fuel stage
Domestic fuel and coal are used to keep citizens from freezing in winter, but this does not guarantee their performance.
Note The game starts in the spring at the ultimate difficulty, the general temperature is relatively low. Therefore, without enough domestic fuel or coal for heating, citizens can say goodbye to you at the very beginning.
But domestic fuel can only be burned in citizens' homes, so the first thing we must do is build a house. Don't build too much at once or the workforce will be scattered. In the beginning, we should focus on quickly building the first house and wait until the "Citizen Freezes" icon stops appearing on everyone's head.
Then you need to take care of purchasing fuel:
Method 1: Build a forester's hut or quickly open a Forest Farm to have a stable supply of wood, and then hire workers to cut wood for household fuel (firewood). Using a water sawmill allows for more efficient production of household fuel.
Method 2: Build a mine and mine coal directly. Disadvantage: Requires more manpower. Advantage: wood can be saved and used for other purposes.
Method 3: Follow the trade route, selling excess resources to earn silver coins, and then directly order coal from the ferry or dock.
In addition, you can use the Boiler Room to halve the amount of fuel consumed.
Rough clothes
Rough clothing is used to cope with the cold winter and keep citizens productive. People who wear clothes work longer hours in cold weather than those who don't.
There are many formulas for making rough clothes, so obtaining them will not be difficult.
Examples on extreme difficulty:
One way is to turn off the citizen status icon or bubble in Settings - Show Citizen Status - No, and let them run "naked" without the annoying warning. "Out of sight, out of mind". Until we know they freeze, they don't freeze.
Attention! It's just a joke. Leaving them naked may be an option in the beginning or on easy difficulty, however the citizens will die as soon as the difficulty increases, or in the middle and late stages.
5 ways:
First wayand the most stable - choose a starting place near the collection point, where you can 100% get a few seeds in the first year. Then unlock the weaving technology in Technology(T) - Processing - Textiles to unlock the Textile Mill.
You have the materials to build a textile factory from the very beginning, so you can build it right away, and the total cost of technology points will be only 1.
Note: villagers can freeze to death without clothes if they go too far to collect seeds.
Second way - constantly rely on the Gatherer's Hut + manually pick plants on the map to get Flax Seeds. The probability of this is small, but still it can be obtained for a long time.
Third way - get flax seeds by directly ordering them from the Ferry or the Dock, but it will cost 8002 silver coins. You can sell high value items, which are plentiful early on. For example, if your starting location is rich in minerals, you can sell them directly. If you turn on "Show basic guides" in the settings, you can get 6000 silver coins without selling anything. And if you're lucky, you'll get another 1,000 coins in a random event, and boom, you've almost got enough money. Build the ferry early on and with any luck you can buy flaxseed from the merchant ship for the standard price without even having to order it.
Fourth way - forget about flax and go hunting. In the first year, find a place where you can get 100% baby animals. Build a hunter's hut nearby and then recruit as many hunters as you can. Soon you will have three types of animals from which the probability of getting alpaca leather and wool is not small. If at the same time you manage to get feathers, you will already be able to make down jackets. If you skip the first year, the rate will be much slower.
Fifth way is to find a way to quickly build a puffer hero (enable special building before starting the game). As soon as you can win 99999 silver coins from it, you can close this building. Ignore the debuffs it places on your villagers, just buy whatever you want directly with that money.
Please note that using SL (save and load) will not change the result in Goof-off Hero.
down jacket
Down Jacket's most important action is to deal with the upcoming snowstorm. If you don't prepare, your citizens may die when disaster strikes. There are four ways to get a down jacket.
First way - traditional - is to obtain raw materials for the production of down jackets. When raw materials are scarce, you need to first build up stocks in excess of population by turning off (prohibiting) citizens from using down jackets, and then resuming their production before disaster strikes.
Second method - continue to earn money in the preparation process, establish a Ferry as soon as possible, wait for the merchant ships to arrive and purchase some down jackets directly, and then turn them off and use them in case of an emergency.
Third way - prepare a sufficient amount of silver coins according to the number of people if there is no merchant ship with a down jacket. Before the snowstorm hits, just order the amount you need to weather the blizzard.
Fourth way is also final, if you can't deal with the blizzard, there is a more final option, that is, before coming, enter the settings and turn off the disaster, so that there will be no more disasters. Wait for enough production to pass this crisis and turn the disaster back on.
