The second special customer event in the Pokemon Cafe Mix introduces players to the water-type starter, Sobble - here's how to recruit him as cafe employees.
Players have spent the past two weeks getting the Pokemon Cafe Mix to rush to complete orders for a chance to meet the adorable Fire Scorbunny. Starting July 15th, PokeBaristas will find the timid Sobleble crawling into stores for treats.
Players who log into the Pokemon Cafe Mix from July 15 to July 29, 2020 will be able to welcome the tear-stained Sobble as a Special Customer in their cafe. Despite the title of "Special Client", Sobble can be recruited like all other Pokemon clients. Players hoping to hire Sobble as a cafe employee need only play a Water-type caster Pokémon five times (or less if there is an active friendship bonus). Needless to say, this could mean completing several irrelevant steps just to shuffle the customer queue and convince Sobble to show up.
Once the player has solidified his friendship with Sobble five times, he will befriend the surly chameleon and convince him to reach out around the cafe. They can then also complete special Sobble-related challenges for prizes including valuable golden acorns. Sobble marks the second of two new Special Buyers introduced by Pokemon Cafe Mix, both of whom were Generation VIII starters. If this trend continues, players are likely to expect orders from Grooky, a newcomer Grass-type Pokémon, this August.
Players who can't get Sobble before the Special Client event ends on July 29th should just focus on hitting the Water-type starter as often as possible. Once the player has served Sobble (or any Special Customer) once, they will be able to invite them to the party. So as long as players have accepted Sobble's order once, they will be able to recruit it from party invites, even after the event is over.
Speaking of which, Pokemon Trainers hoping to hire Sobble early should pay close attention to their party section. If Sobble is available for the party, it's an incredibly easy path to a solid friendship - one invitation allows the player to serve a certain Pokémon multiple times in a row. Sobble's specialty hasn't been revealed yet, but his knack is to remove badges and Pokémon tricks below. Like Scorbunny, it's not a very strong addition, but it can certainly be used to clean up some sugar lumps and also offers a cute alternative to Snubbull.
Players should keep an eye out for the rest of the details on Sobble - he starts showing up as a Special Client after 2:00 AM on July 15th, so the secrets won't last much longer. And on a similar note, players should make sure to meet Scorbunny before he jumps out of the line and passes the baton to Special Client Sobble.
Pokemon Cafe Mix is now available on the App Store, Google Play and Switch.
