How to find a skeleton merchant in Terraria
The Skeleton Trader is an NPC vendor that spawns randomly in the cave layer. He will not move to a free house if one is available, like the Traveling Trader and the Old Man. Enemies will not spawn near him and he will disappear off screen. The Skeleton Trader's stock changes at dawn (4:30 AM) daily, and it doesn't need to respawn to do so. His inventory depends on the current phase of the moon.
He will throw dice to fend off nearby non-skeleton enemies. It will not attack skeleton-related enemies such as Skeleton, Skeleton Archer, etc. Note: Old Man's Skeleton can still damage him even though they are also Skeletons.
Unlike other NPCs, the Skeleton Trader does not have a map icon. The hunter's potion will make him stand out. He is one of the few entities that can be detected by the Lifeform Analyzer or its updates. The PC and mobile versions will display his current name (e.g. Rumble Magu) instead of the Skeleton Trader.
