The best troops (How to get a strong army). This guide will help you get a strong army, that is, the best troops, in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord.

Choose the best faction

The first thing you should do is decide which faction is right for you. For example, in Khuzait it is very easy to get a lot of cavalry, although they are not the strongest.

Then you need to go from the village to the village belonging to this faction and recruit their troops.

(I personally went to the Valandan army with a small number of Imperial soldiers).

Please note that you should only get 2 factions in your army, otherwise it will be difficult if you improve their level and create strategies in battles.

When you have a lot of recruits, you can start raising their level (kill marauders, bandits, etc.)

Troop renewal

What should an army consist of, in my personal opinion, my army should be like this:

  • 40% Archers Crossbowmen
  • 40% Assault Infantry
  • 20% Cavalry (15% Melee Cavalry, 5% Ranged)

You should base your troops on which strategy you like.

I based this on a shield wall strategy where I place the infantry in front of the shield wall, followed by archers in free formation.

The cavalry is sent when the enemy interacts with the infantry to defeat the enemy formation.

And I shed arrows, breaking their formation and guarding the archers who are behind.

What to do with the troops?

If you got troops by killing bandits, raiding castles, etc.

And you don't want to have too many factions in your army, and you can donate your troops to influence!

Go to any friendly castle and donate troops or even farmers to that castle and it will give you tremendous influence and you can organize your army.
